Lynda says:
As Adam was getting his scans done, Lynda was in her conference room with the rest of her team, coming up with a treatment plan on what to do next as far as Adam goes. Lynda already had a neurosurgeon on his way, so that was step one, which led them to come up with other steps, including putting him into a medically induced coma, having him strapped down, not too terrible tight but tight enough to keep him from moving. The last thing that Lynda and her team came up with was the different types of IVs that she wanted him to be on, including fluids to help keep him hydrated. She decided to hold off on the pain killers since he would be in a medically induced coma, but she would make sure to watch him very carefully. Once that was done, Lynda went to explain to Ben what exactly was going on. Lynda stayed with him as she continued to speak, holding his hand and keeping him grounded even though he looked like someone had rammed something into his chest. Ben only uttered one word before his grip on her hand tightened a little bit, which she squeezed back to let him know that she was still there and she wasn't going anywhere for the moment. She could tell that he was processing everything, which was causing him to go through everything from fear and anger to helplessness and something that she couldn't quiet place her finger on. It was then that Lynda felt Ben brushing over her hand. She still didn't say anything for a while as she continued to listen to Ben speak and when he was done, she began to speak to him, still using her doctor's tone, but it had more warmth to it this time.

"Well, right now what he needs is your prayers, love and support," she told Ben, who was stating the obvious and then went on speaking. "Like I said, I know a top neurosurgeon, and he'll be here just as soon as I get a chance to call him," she told Ben as she went on speaking. "But what I really would like to do is put Adam in a medically induced coma to help easy up the pain. Right now, he's feeling a lot of pain and it's only going to get worse, so I would like to make him as comfortable as possible," she explained to Ben. "Him being in a medically induced coma will also keep him from moving around, which could make his injuries worse," she explained to Ben. "We are also going to restrain him, which it won't be too tight, but tight enough to once again keep any movement from happening," she told him, not really knowing how hard for this might be for bed. She looked away for a little while, even though she was still holding his hand tightly. Lynda cleared her throat and turned back to look at Ben. She knew she still had to tell Ben the risks, which would make his decision that much harder, but at this point, she knew this was the only course of action they could do. "Ben," Lynda said as she looked down at their hands that were laced together and then back up him. "There are risks to putting him in the induced coma," she told him and then went on before she lost her nerve. "There is a chance that he could never wake up again," she told him. "Especially if the lesions on his brain start to swell and cause bleeding in the brain," she told him as she finished up her thoughts. "But at this point in time, I feel like it's the best course of action we have," she said. "But the decision is up to you," Lynda added and then when quiet as she waited for Ben to process everything and then give her his decision.

Lynda says:
Lynda couldn't help but smile as she reached down and softly took a hold of Adam's hand and then gave it a little squeeze as she began to speak to him, not only as a doctor, but as a mother that she had come to be to him, even though she knew he already had one. "I will talk to your father once we have you safely in a room and immobilized, so you won't make your injuries worse," he told her as the elevator doors open and they gently and carefully pushed him onto the elevator. "But don't worry, I won't let him worry too much about you or Hoss," she added with a smile as the nurse pressed the button to take Adam and the rest of the team, along with Lynda down to radiology. Lynda couldn't help but smile as she watched Adam's face light up when he started talking about Jennifer, even before Adam got hurt, she loved the way his face would light up as he would brag around town that he had the most beautiful woman in all of Virginia City and they he would get in a debate with Hoss because Hoss said he had the most beautiful woman in all of Virgina City, which it always made her chuckle. Lynda let out a content sigh as she began to finally began to speak as they were finally wheeling him off the elevator and to the radiology room. "Honey, that's what good women in love do for their men," she told him. "I know I would do that for Ben or any of my husbands, and Laura would do the same for Hoss," she told him as they finally got to the radiology room. "She will be here before you know it," she told Adam and then went on. "Now, you be a good boy and stay very still while they get the scans I need so that I can formulate a plan to get you back on your feet," she said with a smiled. Then Lynda leaned down and softly kissed Adam's forehead. Once that was done, Lynda said one last thing before she left him in the good hands of the radiologist. "And once I have the scans I need, I promise you that I will give you something that will help get you through the pain," she added as Adam gave her a sweet smile and then slowly started to disappeared into the radiology room, causing their hands to break.

Once Adam was gone, Lynda let out a heavy and yet sad sigh as a nurse followed the rest of the team into the room so that Adam wouldn't be alone. Once Adam was out of sight, Lynda turned and went back to the elevator and pressed the up button, which didn't take the elevator doors very long to open. Lynda hit the lobby button and was soon on her way up. It only took Lynda about two minutes or so to reach the lobby and once she got off the elevator, she went straight to the waiting room, where Ben and the rest of the family, well minus Hoss and Laura, was waiting to hear the new. She stopped just a few steps away from the waiting room and just starred at her family, who were all worried and scared. She couldn't help but feel their sadness, which in turn made her sad. Finally, after swallowing a huge lump in her throat she was ready to go talk to them at least about Adam condition. And once they were updated about Adam, she would then go and see what was going on with Hoss and see what she could do for him. So, Lynda found the courage to walk over to the Cartwright family, and she cleared her throat loud enough for them to turn and look up at her. She looked around at everyone, but her eyes found Ben's right away. She could tell that he was exhausted and worried, which wasn't a very good combination, especially for someone with Ben's heart troubles. She walked over to Ben and reached down and took his hand into hers. "Benny," Lynda said softly as the look on her face turned to sadness. She had done this many times before and it never got any easier, but now that she was having to do it for her own family and it was the hardest thing she knew she would have to do in her life. But she shook off her feelings and went on talking to Ben as a doctor instead of a wife. "Adam's condition is not looking good. There is a real good chance that he could be paralyzed for the rest of his life," she said and then went on before Ben or anyone could say anything. "I won't really know until I get the scans back," she said and then went quiet as she waited for Ben to say something.

Laura smiled at the both of them with the warmest smile she had. After she shook their hands and listened to them, she knew Hoss was right about his little brother and sister. They were good kids and she was already falling in love with them. Once they were done speaking, she began to speak to the both of them. "Thank you both and I do love Eric with all my heart and soul," she told them both. She couldn't help but smile and blush when Jennie quoted what Hoss says about her. "That doesn't surprise me at all. He's talked like that about me ever since we first met, though I'm nobody really that special," she told Jennie as she looked over at Joe. "Thanks for the offer, Joe, and yes I do agree that family that family must always stick together," she told him and then went on with her thought. "And thanks for letting me be a part of your family. I already feel like you two are apart of mine," she said with a smile on her face. Then Laura cleared her throat as she went on with her thoughts. "Anyway," Laura said as she turned away for a little bit and then back at them. "I don't need anything, but I do have a few things I have to do," she told all three of them as she looked back down the hallway. "Do you guys think you could stay here while I go do what I have to do?" she asked him. "I don't want Eric to come back and there be nobody with him," she said and then realized they had no idea where Hoss even went.

"Oh sorry, I forgot to tell you that they took him down to get some tests done. I think they said a CT scan and a couple of X-Rays," she told them. "He'll probably be still asleep when they bring him back, since he wasn't resting like he should," she added as she turned and looked at Joe, Jennie and Andrew. "I shouldn't be too long, though it's going to depend on a few things as to how quickly I can get back," she told them. Laura then paused for a few minutes as she rubbed the back of her neck. She knew that she needed to make sure that the nausea she was feeling was from her being pregnant instead of just her nerves getting the best of her. Laura cleared her throat and then turned to her new family with a smile on her face. "He should still be sleeping when they bring him back, but in case he's not, you can tell him I had some important things that I had to take care of and that I will be back as soon as I can," she told them, with a smile on her face. "But in the meantime, you all can visit and keep Eric's mind busy until I get back," she told them as she chuckled and then smiled as she finished up her thoughts. "Just try not to let him talk your ears off about me," she added with a chuckle. "Now, I need to get going, but you all can wait in his room, until he gets back," she told them. "And once again, it was great meeting you guys," she said to Joe and Jennie. Then she turned and looked at Andrew and gave him a hug as she told him that it was great seeing him again. And then after they let go of each other, Andrew took Joe and Jennie into Hoss's hospital room while Laura went to do what she needed to do.

Lynda says:
"Shhh, it's okay Adam," she said softly as she was trying to calm him down. "We are going to get to the bottom of this and fix you up good as new," she said with a smile, though she knew in the back of her head that the worst was happening right now. That was when she remembered her getting a text for Jennifer saying she was on her way home. "Hey, guess who I got a text from this morning?" she asked him as she went on and not waiting for Adam to answer. "Jennifer and she's coming straight home to be with you and to help take care of you," she added as one of the nurses whispered something into Lynda's ear, which caused her to frown. Lynda turned back to Adam and then got serious with him. "I'm going to send you down to radiology for some tests," she told him in her doctor's voice. "Once I get the test results back, then we will have a better understanding of what's going on and can form a plan on how to get you back on your feet again," she told him softly. "But I want you to do something for me. I want you to stay calm and keep telling yourself that you are going to be alright," she told him. "Do you think you can do that for me?" she asked him.

Adam said he could as they were getting to wheel him out of trauma and down to radiology. "I'm going to go tell your father what's going on and what the plan is as of right now," she told Adam as they were getting close to the elevator. "Your family is here and we love you so much. You're not going to be alone through any of this," she told him. Then she leaned down and softly kissed Adam's forehead as she squeezed his hand to let him know she was never too far away from him. As the elevator doors opened, she had one of the nurses to hold Adam's hand and once that was done, she told the head nurse to put a rush on his results and send them to her immediately. The nurse nodded as they got Adam onto the elevator with the one nurse still holding his hand. And once the doors closed and was heading up to radiology, she went to let Ben know what was going on and what the next step was, though first she needed a hot tea to settle her stomach.

Lynda says:
"I'm here Adam," Lynda said as she was also barking orders out. "And I know you hurt and feel funny, and I promise you I won't let you go to sleep," she said as she began to gently listen to his heart while still watching his vital signs, which were okay though she knew that they could be better. She knew she had to start with Adam's penicillin allergy, so she ordered some Epinephrine, which one of the interns quickly got. Lynda turned to look at Adam and began to speak to her. "I'm going to give you a shot that will help with your breathing, plus I will put you on some oxygen to also help," she said. "You might feel a little stab," she said as she jabbed the Epinephrine syringe into Adam's heart and then slowly started to push slowly down on the syringe, letting the liquid inside slowly do its work, and hoping that Adam's breathing returned. As Lynda was doing this, another nurse was hooking Adam up to a low dosage of oxygen. Lynda softly ran her hand over Adam's forehead like a loving mother word and went back to talking with him. "Almost done and you should start feeling better as far as breathing go," she told Adam.

Once Lynda was done giving Adam the Epinephrine, she looked up at Adam's vitals, which were now going up a little more, making Lynda breathe a little easier. It was then that Lynda turned to look back at Adam as she began to speak to him softly and gently. "Now that we got your breathing under control and fixed that problem," she told him. "You said your head hurt?" she asked him. "What else hurts?" she asked him as she looked deep into Adam's eyes, which were now awake as she took his hand. "Can you feel me holding your hand?" she asked as she then turned and asked someone to get his boots off, which the nurse quickly did and placed it with the rest of his things. And then ran a reflex hammer on the bottom of Adam's feet, and with everyone watching, nothing happened and everybody looking at each other as if they saw a ghost. None of Adam's toes on either foot moved, which was rather alarming. "Adam, honey, can you wiggle your toes for me?" she asked him, now letting some of her worry slip into the tone of her voice.
