"I always know what my favorite grandson wants and likes," she said chuckling as she was watching him start to eat his snack. Then she looked at him with a playful and yet serious look. "Did you get your room done?" she asked him as she reached down to get his backpack.
As Lynda waited for Carter to get his mouth clear to answer her question about his room, she began to pull out his school binder and books so that he can get a jump start on his homework. "Got your books and things out for you to get a jump start on your homework," she told him with a smile on her face.

Lynda couldn't help but laugh as she went into the kitchen to started fixing Carter's snack and drink. Lynda made sure each cracker had an extra dollip of peanute butter so that he could scoop some on his apples if he wanted. Once the crackers were done, she started on the apple, making sure to peel it good and then cut it into slices.
After that was done, Lynda went over to the cookie jar and pulled out a few chocolate chip cookies and placed them on the plate next to the apple slices and then peanut butter crackers. Then she went to the fridge and grabbed the coldest soda from the bottom and poured it into a glass. T hen, after throwing away the can, she then picked up the plate and glass and took them to the table. "Carter, honey, your snack is ready for when you get done," Lynda said as she went to the hall and yelled to him. "And don't forget your school books," she added.

Lynda smiled over how excited that Carter was. It was these moments that Lynda was glad that no matter how much pain she was in or how bad she was suffering, she was glad she was pushing through, depsite being off her meds. Lynda kissed Carter on top of the head as she began to speak to him.
"Now, you go make sure your room is clean and I will get started on your after school snack that you can eat it while you do your homework," she told her grandson. Lynda started to head towards the kitchen. Then she stopped at the doorway and looked at Carter as she began to speak to him. "Would you like a Coke to drink?" she asked with a smile on her face.

"That's great sweetie," she said as she glanced over to make sure there was no dirt by the door and then back at Carter. "Of course you can," she said as she kissed the top of his head. "And just for being Grandma's big boy, I'll throw in a couple of cookies, provided you don't tell on me and do all your homework after," she told him playfully.

Lynda looked over and Carter with a smile. "I think that's a good idea," she told her grandson. "And when you are done, I'll make you a snack and we can talk about your day and get a jump start on any homework you might have," she said with a soft grandma smile on her face. "Anything in particular you want for your after school snack?" she asked him as she watched him getting up from the table.
"Oh and sweetheart, make sure you put everything away neatly and in it's place carefully," she told him. "Anything I see on the floor becomes mine," she told him and then gave him a wink knowing she really wouldn't take anything away from Carter for too long. Lynda was now ignoring Joe and Jennie as they continue to rant and rave. She then turned her attention to Carter. "Oh sweetie, did you wipe your feet before coming in?" she asked him. |
