"I promise," Andrew said as he reached for the notebook that had Josh's list of questions. Andrew let out a sigh as if he was trying to prepare for what Josh wanted to ask him. But the smile on Josh's face, made the smile on Andrew's face grow even bigger as he began to speak to his son.
"Good," he told Josh. "This way, you don't have to worry about missing out on any fun during our guys night out," he told his son. "And if I can, I'm gonna see if your Uncle Hoss can stop by for a while and just hang out with us," he added. Then he got serious for a little bit. "But there is something I do wanna ask you before I look at these questions and you start your homework," he said.

Andrew couldn't help but laugh as he listened to Josh speak about having a lot of questions and taking notes from school to have some good material. Then Andrew begant to speak to Josh with a curiosity in the tone of his voice. "Can I see the questions you already have listed or do I have to wait until we get to the hotel?" he asked wondering exactly what he got himself into and what kind of questions could his son come up with.
Then Andrew changed quickly changed the subject. "Oh and I told your brother, I don't think your sister will be going with us, so we will make this a guys thing. We can stay up late, have pizza and watch movies, have ice cream," he said with a huge smile on his face. "But those are weekend things and after you do your homework, you got it?" he asked his son, still wearing a huge smile on his face, knowing that he could still give his boys a great time, even if Peggy didn't want any part of it.

"Like I told your brother, don't worry, time will fly by, and before you even know it, you won't even know we even left the Ponderosa," he told Josh. "And don't worry, you're clean room will still be here when we get back, though I'm not sure how much longer we will be living with Grandpa and Grandma," he added as he went silent for a little while and then smiled when Josh said what he said about mini vacations not having homework.
"Well, unforutante for you, Jake and Peggy," Andrew started with a chuckle to his voice. "You still have to go to school. But instead of coming back here, you'll go straight to the hotel," he told Josh. Andrew's smile grew bigger when he heard Joshh's tone and how he was trying to match his. "And I will be more than happy to answer each and every one of them," he told Josh. "But let's wait until we get to the hotel for the Q&A session," he said playfully.

Andy couldn't help but smile as he looked around Josh's room. Then he went on to speak to his son with a proud tone. "You did great son and I see that your sock drawer is very neat. ," Andy said with a smile on his face as Josh joined him on the bed. Andy knew his boys loved it here and being with his grandpa and grandmas, so he knew his sons might take this hard, but Andy let out a sigh anyway as he began to tell Josh what was on his mind.
"Think of it as a mini vacation from the Ponderosa for a little while," he said trying to make this move fun for him. Andy knew that his son was going to asks alot of questions, starting with why they were leaving. "Once you get that done, then you can take out a piece of paper and right down all your questions and I will answer them once we are settled in our room," he told Josh and as Andy got up to head to his own room. "Oh and don't forget to pack your school books," he said with a smile.

After having a frank and rather straight foward conversation with Peggy, Andy knew it was time for them to move and get away from the family for little while. Andy had been thinking about this for a while now and today only just reenforced how bad it's needed. So, after tell Peggy to back some clothes and her school books, he decided to go tell the boys to do the same.
"Hey son, finishing cleaning your room?" Andy asked with a smile on his face as he walked in and sat on Josh's bed. "It looks really good," he added and then cleared his throat. "Son, could you come here a minute, I need to talk to you," he added smiling and knowing that his son wouldn't understand why he was having them pack for a couple of weeks. |
