Lynda had be working and getting things ready for her leave of absence from the hospital and she still needed to find someone to take over for her while she was gone. She could have had her husband House take over or her brother Mark, but she was afraid that House would make everyone so pissed they walked out and Mark, well, she loved Mark and she knew that he could do the job but it would me more time at the hosptial and less time with Rachel and Elizabeth. 

So she knew James would be the best man for the job, even though he too, was married to Elizabeth, he always seemed to manage to stay orginized so that he could get out at a decent hour. So, Lynda went and knocked on James' office door before opening it. Then she opened it and stuck her head inside. "Hey James, it's my Lynda," she told him. "Can I come in and talk to you?" she asked him. "I have an important favor I need to ask you," she added as she waited for his reponse. 

House looks up from his Game Boy as Wilson walks in after knocking. That's exactly the reason I haven't been to the clinic yet. Why do I want to give myself tuberculosis? I'm not looking to get sick. But am getting ready to go by there soon. I'm not planning on staying long though." He laughs, "No, the fate of humanity depends on me staying away from as many of those patients as I can. They're too needy and my leg is giving me a fit today, which will only make things worse. But Lynda is not going to catch me skipping out. I'm going to the clinic as soon as I shave" he says picking up a razor and going over to the mirror hanging on the wall.
