Lynda smiled as she softly touched James's face. "You are one of my most trusted doctors and friends," she told James. "Not to mention the husband of my stepsons's mother," she said laughing. "Which makes us family, so it's only right that I come to you," she told him. "And as for this so-called staff of ours, well, as soon as I get back there's gonna be one hell of a shake up," she told him honestly. "And I'm not too sure I won't be working on it while in isolation," she added as she moved onto the next subject.

"But anyway," she added. "I trust either you or Mark with my more important cases, which, like my brother, you deserver one," she added. "Besides, I'm almost done with his and your paperwork for raises," she said with a huge smile on it, as she went on talking about House. "Greg promised me he will be on his best behavior, but I have that extra insurance policy hidden in a very special spot," she told him. "But don't be surprised that he comes looking for it in your office," she said laughing.

"Good and I know I am," she said. "But I'm very confident that you can handle it," she added with a smile. "And who knows maybe someday I can take you on as a full partner," she added smiling. "Now, I must get going and make some other arrangements. And I'm sure that you must make you own arrangements," she said. "I'll be back just before I go into the isolation chamber to give the information you'll need to get into everything," she added.

"I will keep you update or at least someone will," she told James with a smile. "And I want to give you that raise anyway," she told James. "You have earned it in so many ways that I can't even count the ways," she said with a smile. "And yes I know I should have come to you, but my prroblems go beyond what a cancer docter can do," she said with a chuckle. ."But I know what you mean," she told. "I could have come to talk to you earlier rbeforer things got so out of control," she added, still smiling.

 

Then Lynda got back downt o business as she began to speak again, this time about the hospital. "Anyway, your problem child is gonna be House, no surprise there," she said with a chuckle. "If he gets too out of hand, then tell him that you have a document, and you will before I leave," she told James. "Staying that if he throws any kind of hissy fit or gives you or the other doctors any more trouble besides the normal amount," she instructed James . "That he will be spending most of it time doing clinic hours that he won't know his own job anymore," she told him very serious.

"And don't worry, I will tell him that myself so that he gets the point," she added. "But other than that, nobody else should give you trouble," she added. "Now as for my cases, what Mark doesn't take, I hope you will cover, unless it comes Hoss or any other member of my family," she told him. "Then you come let me know and I will make the final call," she told James. "Understand?" she asked him.

House laughs, "That my friend is why I make excuses to avoid people. Because I hate them as much as I do. I would think you would have figured that out about me by now."

"I need you to run the hospital for me for a while," she told James as she came in and sat down in a chair across from James. She continued speaking to him in the same serious tone she had whens he walked in. She knew that she better explain why she was asking this before she went on with other details. "And before you start asking a bunch of questions, let me explain what's going on," she told him as she cleared her throat before going on. 

"I am having some  problems that requires me to get some medical help," she told him. "And I don't know just how long I will be gone," she added. "And as you know, my brother Mark is swamped, and I just made it worse for him," she told him. "And you know that if I put House in charge, I won't have a hospital to come back to," she added. "So, I chose you. And I know that you will keep things running smoothing and make all the right choices," she told him.

"So, what do you say, will you accept my offer?" she asked and then went on to sweeten the pot. "And for your help, I will be giving you a generous raise, which will be perminate, even after I come back," she told him. 

Lynda had be working and getting things ready for her leave of absence from the hospital and she still needed to find someone to take over for her while she was gone. She could have had her husband House take over or her brother Mark, but she was afraid that House would make everyone so pissed they walked out and Mark, well, she loved Mark and she knew that he could do the job but it would me more time at the hosptial and less time with Rachel and Elizabeth. 

So she knew James would be the best man for the job, even though he too, was married to Elizabeth, he always seemed to manage to stay orginized so that he could get out at a decent hour. So, Lynda went and knocked on James' office door before opening it. Then she opened it and stuck her head inside. "Hey James, it's my Lynda," she told him. "Can I come in and talk to you?" she asked him. "I have an important favor I need to ask you," she added as she waited for his reponse.
