Andrew smiled as he watched Joe disappear in to his room. Then soon Andrew went into his room. He quickly got himself cleaned up and changed out of his clothes. Once Andrew was satisfied with the way he looked, he grabbed his hat and truck keys and went down stairs to wait for Joe.
As Andrew was waiting, he couldn't help but go over to the bookshel and pull out the old family photo album. He began to gently flip through the pages as he looked at all the pictures of him with Adam. Then he moved onto pictures of him, Adam with baby Hoss, and tears started to fill Andrew's eyes. But when Andrew hit the pictures of him, Andrew and Hoss with baby Jennie and Joe, Andrew completely broke down and started crying, knowing that he couldn't help his siblings with their inner demons as much as he really wanted too.

Andrew couldn't help but chuckle as he walked up the stairs with Little Joe. Andrew couldn't help but continue to speak to his little brother as they walked up to their rooms. "If you think that doesn't sit right," Andrew said. "Try watching Hoss have a seizure that nobody can get to ease up, even in the hosptial," he said remembering that aweful day.
"It was before you and Jennie came along. And it happened a couple of days after Laura had left," he said as he shook his head and then got back on track again. "But that's another story for another time," he told Joe. "Anyway, Adam will be okay, he's got the best medical care money can by," he added as they reached the top of the stairs. "Anyway, I'll meet you downstairs in 15 minutes," he said with a smile and patted Joe on the back. "And after we check on Adam, I'll treat you to something to eat there at the resturant at the hospital," he said as he turned to walk towards her room. Then he stopped and turned back to Joe. "Of course, if they are running tests on Adam, we could go to that resturant first," he told Joe.

Andrew could see that Joe had been deeply affected by Adam's accident, though he also knew that Joe wouldn't want to talk about it right now, so Andrew didn't press him on it. They walked slowly to the Ranch house barely speaking at the moment. Finally, after following Joe into the house, Andrew began to speak to him.
"Don't worry Joe, Adam will be just fine. He's going to the best hospital there is in Virginia City," he told Joe as he was referring to Lynda's hospital as he went on speaking. "But you are right though," Andrew told Joe as he was following his little brother over to the staircase. "Pa will have our hides if we go in the hospitals looking and smelling like ordinary cowboys," he said laughing. "And as for Adam, well, I'm sure he won't have to wait too long," he said as both Joe and Andrew was starting up the stairs. "But you're right, he never was good at just laying on his back for too long, unless Jennifer was involved," he added with another laugh at his joke, hoping his jokes was helping Joe feel better. Then Andrew got serious, but still had that playfull tone in his voice as they reached the top of the stairs. "Adam might try to tell the nurses what to do," Andrew said. "But you and I both know that if he comes across Lynda, he'll shut down imediately," he added now chucklilng. "Not that Adam is afraid of Lynda or anything," he added still chuckling as he now changed the subject as they stood in the hallway before going to their rooms. "So, I'll meet you downstairs once done getting cleaned up and clothes changed?" he asked Joe.

Andy nodded as he listened to everything that Adam told him not to do. He already knew that he already messed up from the mess that went on inside, but he at least would try to do the rest that Adam told him to do. Then he finally spoke as Adam was being placed into the the ambulance. "Good....I don't think I could survive," he told Adam as they finally got him into the ambulance. After they closed the doors and soon, with the sirense were turned on and the ambulance was pulling away as Andy just stood there.
Once the ambulance was out of site, Andy chuckled as he shook his head at the thought of Adam haunting anything. He knew that would definately keep verything interesting. Then Andy turned to Little Joe. "Come on little brother, we need to get going. We don't wanna let Adam stay alone too long in the hospital," he told Joe. Then he looked down at himself. "But first, we need to get ourselves cleaned up," he added.

Andy just listened to everything that Adam told him as he blinked away the tears. Andrew loved his all his family, even if they all didn't see eye to eye alot of the times. And in the back of his mind, he knew he would do anything for them. But noone really understoodn him like his own twin brother, which, to be honest, he loved more than life itself. Finally, as the paramedicas parked the ambulance and was getting out and gathering everything they needed to look Adam over, Andrew began to finally speak to his brother.
"The paramedics are here to take care of you," Andy told him. "I don't want you to worry about a thing," he added. "I will take care of everything you told me to and then some," he told Adam just as the paramedics came over to staart to work on Adam after getting Andy out of the way. While the paramedics was getting Adam ready to transport to the hospital, he couldn't help but make a joke to help lighten the mood. "You know, if you died, one of two things could happen," Andy said trying to keep the mood light. "Either I will be forced to marry Jennifer and we bury you under my name," he said. "Or she's gonna come back here and use jumper cables to bring you back from the dead only for her to kill you herself," Andy said laughing. "I'm kind of voting for the second one, since I can't draw worth a damn, although Jake can draw like you," he said. "I could just steal his drawings if I have too," he added and then laughed a bit. Though Adam was quiet as they were putting him in a neck brace and then putting a board under him to keep him from moving, Andrew decided that he was now mostly talking to himself than to anyone around him. Finally, they paramedics put Adam on the stretcher and as they got him over to the ambulance and was putting him inside, Andrew couldn't help but yell one time at Adam. "I'll be right behind you little brother," he yelled, hoping that Adam heard him. |
