Laura says:
Laura smiled as she looked up into Hoss's eyes. She could tell that he meant every word, even though the tiredness on his face showed, she knew he wasn't going anywhere. And frankly, deep down that made her happy. She knew she had a lot of time to make up for, and it would be hard to do that if he was dead. Slowly they began to walk across the room and out the door, which Laura closed behind her. She listened to Hoss struggling to breathe and she couldn't help but gently talk to him. "Slow deep breathes, my love," she told them as they slowly made their way down the hallway and finally to the front door of the hotel room. She could feel him wobbling a little bit, which only made her tighten her grip on him. "Easy baby," she told him as they kept walking slowly. "Do you need to take a short break?" she asked him and when he nodded, she had them both stopped, while Hoss rested a few minutes. She couldn't help but speak as they were resting.

"I'm glad that you are going to let the doctors do their jobs without fussing," she told him as she looked up at him. Her arm was still around his waist, and she couldn't help but give him a little squeeze, just to let him know that he was safe in her arms. The other hand rested gently against his chest, which she could feel his heart racing, which had her worried, though she kept those feelings to herself. "Because I so many plans for our future, starting with the fact that I have Monica, my best friend, already starting the plans of our wedding, which I gave her strict instructions there was to be no bright lights or lasers or strobe lights," she told him as they began to walk towards the front door once more. Finally, after what seemed like 30 minutes, Laura had Hoss walking out the front door and walking straight to his truck. Her grip around his waist stayed as tight as she could get as they slowly made their way to his truck. "We are almost there, my love," she told him. "Just keep breathing nice and slow and walking at my pace and we will have you in that truck in no time," she told him.

Once Inger was done singing, she could hear Hoss breathing like he was already asleep, and she couldn't help but smile. Laura then went over and picked up the phone and started talking for a bit about life and the future and how much Inger appreciated Laura loving her son as she did and of course Laura said that it was her pleasure and that he made it easy to love him. That made Inger smile as she fought hard to fight back the tears. As they were saying goodbye, she had asked Laura to put the phone back in Hoss's ear for a moment, which Laura did just that. Inger then began to speak to her son softly and gently, knowing that her words would get through to him. "My sweet baby boy," Inger started softly talking to him in his ear as he slept. "I know you don't remember much about your childhood and the memories you do have are pleasant ones," she told him softly as she went on.

"My love, I know you are scared something might happen, not only to yourself but to those you love, especially Laura. But we are all family and family sticks together. So, as you sleep my sweet boy, take comfort knowing that for now your loved ones are all safe and sound in the arms of our family. The future is never guaranteed to be smooth and safe, but we will ride everything out together, that I can promise," she told him as he continued to sleep. "Sleep well, my baby, and dream of the future that I know you will have. Dream about being the best husband to Laura and the best father to your future children. And always remember that your mama loves you very much and so does the rest of the family," she added before calling for Laura. After pulling the phone from Hoss's, Laura and Inger talked for a few more minutes and then said their goodbyes. Once they hung up, Laura put the phone on Hoss's side table. Then she pulled the covers up over him and leaned in and kissed him on the forehead soft and sweetly. Laura then went over to the recliner and took herself a little nap.

Andrew couldn't help but chuckle a little bit as he listened to Hoss reply to what he told him. Once Hoss was done speaking for the moment, it was Andrew's chance to continue with his thoughts about his little brother. "Well, I did and I think they were words that you desperately needed to hear right now," he told Hoss being serious as he let out a little chuckle when he heard Hoss say something about crying in front of the nurses. "Believe me, they've seen you cry," he told him as a playful and joking tone slipped into his voice. "And they told me to tell you to hold off crying until they can get a boat built," he said jokingly as he went on. "Besides, I would think you would be more worried about crying in front of Laura then you would be the nurses," he said as he was trying to keep Hoss's mind upbeat. But the next words kind of broke Andrew's heart as his little brother made his confession about how he thought he failed the family. That was when Laura gave Hoss's hand a squeeze, letting him know he wasn't a failure.

"Little brother, you didn't fail anyone, nor did you let anyone down," Andrew said being serious again. "What happened to Adam could have easily happened while you were there just like it did with you not there," he told Hoss, know that if it wasn't for the fact that Hoss was fighting so hard for his life right now, he would have realized that. Of course, he would have also realized that stuff like Adam's accident is just part of being a rancher. "And by the way little brother, you're never alone," he reminded Hoss. "You have a wonderful family who loves you very much and needs you. You have a beautiful woman, who not only loves and needs you, but she will walk through hell, just to see you smile," he added still be serious and then once again went to a little bit of a playful tone. "And I'm sure if you asked her to, she would kill for you," he said playfully chuckling. Though Andrew knew deep down that if it came down to it, Laura really would kill for him.

Hearing the rustling of the sheets, he knew that Hoss was probably trying to get himself comfortable, though Andrew knew he shouldn't be moving around too much. "Little brother, I know you are really uncomfortable right now, but could you please try to lay still?" Andrew asked softly but still using his big brother's voice. He knew that Hoss didn't like his hospital bed, even though he was specially ordered, but moving around like he was, wasn't good for Hoss's heart, considering they didn't know what was going on with it now. After Andrew used his big brother's voice, he smiled as he listened to Hoss talk about Laura being more beautiful than a rose. Laura looked at Hoss and blushed, mouthing to him that a rose was way prettier than she was. "Hoss, you have always been the honest one of the family, so it doesn't surprise me that you would think she was prettier than a rose," Andrew said with a chuckle.

"You have always thought that way about her. And I'm glad she is pulling you out of your shell and making you face your thoughts," he told Hoss. "You need someone like that, as sensitive as you are. She not only completes you, but she is the ying to your yang," Andrew said as he made a face while thinking that he's been hanging around Ross too much. Then Andrew chuckled as he continued his thoughts. "But anyway, tell the prettiest rose in the world that I said Hey and that I will be seeing her soon. And no, I don't mean that as me hitting on her," Andrew said with a chuckle. "I've seen what you're like when someone flirts with her and prefer to keep my teeth," he added with a chuckle and then they got serious again as they finished up talking about Joe and Jennie and taking care of Adam and coming to see him.

"I would have to agree with you there, at least partly," Andrew said softly as they were now coming to the city limits of Virginia City. "But I think they both had a much needed and long talk with Lynda and somehow she was able to get through to them where we couldn't," Andrew said as he was coming to a red light as he went on to talk about taking care of Adam. "Don't you worry about Adam. I'll take care of him, just like I will take care of you, and I will always take care of my little brothers," he added. "And you are welcome, but now you get you some rest and concentrate on getting better. Because I am looking forward to one day dancing with that beautiful rose of yours at the wedding, which I have a feeling you two are already planning," Andrew said happily. "You better not and we will see you very soon," Andrew said and then they said their goodbyes and soon hung up from each other.

Laura says:
Laura smiled as she felt her hand being pressed harder into Hoss's chest. She knew that he could feel every bit of love she had for him. And even though his heart was not wanting to work properly, it wasn't stopping them from loving each other with everything that was in their heart and soul. Finally, after she listened to everything Hoss had to say, she began to speak, with a warm smile on her face and all the love she had for him shining in her eyes. "I don't want you to worry about taking care of me," she told him softly. "Because I know there will come a day when I need you to take care of me," she told him. "And I know when that day comes, you will step up and be the man I need you to be and make sure that whatever I am going through, you are there giving me all the love and support I need, just like I am giving you now," she told him with a smile as she softly touched his face with the other hand. "And I know you aren't going anywhere," she told him getting serious now. "Because I won't let you leave me," she added. Then Laura took a couple of deep breaths as she prepared herself to lift Hoss up.

As Laura was about to lift Hoss, she began to speak to him. "Don't worry baby, I'm never letting you go," she told him. "Just like I know you will never let me go," she added as she was lifting Hoss, he began to press down on Laura. Hoss then pressed a little too hard as he began to stand himself up because Laura let out a little yelp of pain. She knew he didn't mean too and would feel so guilty, so she looked up at him and smiled, though the pain was written all over her face. Once Laura got Hoss standing up, she quickly pulled up his pants, fastened them and then quickly got his belt fastened. While Hoss was standing completely still, her with her arm around his mid-section and his arm now moved from her shoulders down to having one arm around her mid-section, Laura reached over and grabbed his hat, her purse and cell phone and Hoss's gun belt. Laura once more looked up at her beloved and she couldn't help but smile. The was the first time Hoss stood up strait since getting out of the bathtub. Then she began to speak to him, still wearing that smile. "You did it baby, you're standing," she said happily. "You ready to walk with me out of her and to your truck so that I can get you to the hospital?" she asked him with a smile and knowing he was.

Laura says:
Laura couldn't help but blush a little as she listened to an exhausted Hoss speak to her. She knew he was getting worse but there was nothing she could do until she got him dressed and to the hospital, which was what she was doing as quickly as she possibly could. But she stopped for just a moment and softly touched his face and began to speak to Hoss with a smile on her face. "My love, everything I have told you, you already knew," she told him softly. "I just reenforce what you know your heart knows, that's all," she added with a smile on her face. She could see how pale he was getting but the warmth and the love shone through his beautiful blue eyes like there was nothing wrong.

It was then that she made him promise that he would make his eyes shine even brighter. "My love," Laura started as she reached down and took his hand and placed it on her heart. Then she placed her hand on his heart and continued with her thought. "I promise on our hearts that I will now and forever be by your side. I promise to be your strength and anything else you need me to be," she added and then continued. "As long as my heart beats, I promise you will never be alone again and my love will always surround you, even when times get hard and scary," she added. "And I promise that even though your heart is broken right now, my heart will always be there to keep it beating, because we are one and our hearts are one," she added and then leaned down and softly kissed him, letting her lips linger a little bit. Then she pulled back and smiled as she continued to get him ready. "And you're the reason I make a room so hot," she whispered playfully to him. "You keep me hot," she added giggling as they got serious again.

Finally, Laura was ready to get Hoss's pants all the way up on him. She stood up straight and tall, letting out heavy sighs as she was getting ready to help lift him up off the bed. She looked deep into his eyes and smiled at him. "Here's what I want you to do," she said softly and gently. "I want you to get a good grip on my shoulders and as I pull you up, you force yourself to stand until you are standing completely up," she told him. She knew this would probably cause her some bruising and maybe a few aches and pains later, but she would worry about that later, right now, helping Eric stand was more important. She could see on his face that he was worried about hurting her and a soft smile came over her face as she spoke to him. "My love, I don't want you to worry about hurting me," she told him. "Getting you dressed and to the hospital is the most important thing right now," she added. "So, take a deep breath, and when you are ready, put your hands on my shoulders and when you are ready, we will get this done," she told him as she waited for him.

While she waited, Laura then went on to talk about her getting hurt because of him. She could see that he really was worried about her getting hurt on account of him. "My love," she said softly. "I would gladly die for you, just like I know you would die for me," she told him. "That's what you do when you love someone the way we love each other," she told him as she touched his face softly. "You and I are one and there is nobody in this entire world that can ever change that," she added. "So don't go worrying yourself about something happening to me because of you," she told him. "It's you that I would gladly defend until the end and if it requires me to lay down my life, then so be it," she added with a smile. Laura wiped away the few tears that fell from Hoss's face. "Don't cry my love," she told him as she gave him the sweetest smile she had. "I will never let you go nor will I let you fall," she said with a smile. "Now, are you ready to stand up so I can finish dressing you?" she asked him.
